Chapter 7 - Choice
If God has redeemed us from the curse of sorrowful childbirth, has delivered us from fear, wants us to have a satisfying birth experience, and has physiologically designed us to give birth peacefully and without complication, then why are so many births still the opposite of that?

How are disappointment, fear, and sorrow still finding a way in? Why, especially among believers, are there not more women experiencing Eden-like birth?
When an outcome doesn’t agree with what is revealed as God’s will for us in His Word, we must have the courage to ask Him for His wisdom and revelation-knowledge as to why. Without getting honest answers to challenging questions like these, the faith of someone who believes and prays for something that doesn’t pan out can be hurt, or worse, they may conclude that faith doesn’t even work. Yet, the truth is, God has always intended that there be power, which is the ability to get results, in our faith and prayers.
Sometimes, the real answers to these questions are hard to swallow, but that’s still better than going with the mainstream response of automatically questioning God’s good will toward you. It’s comforting to know that you know the truth, even if the truth is not always comfortable.
That which keeps women from experiencing birth as God intended is not a matter of God not keeping His Word or not wanting you to have that experience. He’s not looking for reasons to withhold His goodness from you. “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32 NASB)
